Mission

INVESTING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Story

Bringing specialty coffee roasting to the Outer Sunset in San Francisco, Andytown feels like your grandmother's kitchen—clean, cozy, welcoming, and warm. They aim to create the jobs they always wanted to have and the company we always wanted to work for, all in the neighborhood we call home.

Sourcing Practices

Andytown work directly with specialty importers, exporters, producers, and farmers that share our values of sustainability and commitment to community. They strive to build long term relationships with their coffee partners and have our partners grow alongside them. Andytown regularly visits their partners in their farms, processing facilities, and offices, and meet with folks throughout the supply stream that help bring coffees to their roastery.

Why we love Andytown

Having lived in San Francisco for years, Andytown was the first to come to mind when we started looking for roaster partners. We love them not only for their wide range of flavor profiles, but also their down-to-earth approach to coffee and dedication to giving back to their neighborhood. - Natalie

Mission

COFFEE CAN BE A FORCE FOR GOOD

Story

Equator Coffees was founded on the belief that coffee can be roasted better, brewed better, and, most importantly, it can be sourced in a way that makes lives better. Founders Helen Russell and Brooke McDonnell began roasting and selling coffee out of a Marin County garage in 1995, and that garage marked the beginning of a high-impact coffee company focused on quality, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Equator was named after the region where coffee grows, but has come to mean so much more than that. As they trace the path from source to sip, they try to make everything they touch better. From people to planet. Because they believe coffee can do more than just taste good. It has the power to do good too.

Sourcing Practices

Their long-term relationships throughout the international coffee community allow them to source distinctive coffees directly from producers committed to excellence, sustainability, and responsible farming. Among many examples, they have been working with their partners El Batan in Ecuador for over fifteen years.

As California's first Fair Trade certified coffee roaster in 1999, and the first B Corp certified coffee roaster in 2011, Equator has stood at the forefront of the sustainable coffee movement since their inception. They have always believed that better coffee has the power to shape a better future for both people and planet, and today, this mission is more vital than ever before.

Sourcing and roasting the highest quality coffee is only possible with a transparent supply chain that contributes to the social welfare of farmers and producers. Through certification with Fair Trade USA, USDA Organic, B Corp, and now, for the first time in coffee, the Regenerative Organic Alliance, they ensure their supply chain benefits all stakeholders, which leads to environmental sustainability both at home and abroad.

Why we love Equator

What stood out to us about Equator was their core values: Good coffee, Kind people, Better Planet. It really resonated with our own mission, and bonus points that they’re also a Bay Area women-owned business! Their coffees are delicious and comforting, and make great pantry staples. - Natalie

Mission

NEVER SETTLE FOR GOOD ENOUGH

Story

It starts with traveling to find the absolute best coffees. This plays out across different countries, continents, and terrains. Onyx maintain high standards for how our coffees score and taste.

Their approach to serving coffee begins way before there’s a customer in front of them. Whether you’re a coffee professional or you’re just getting started, you can trust that excellence and hospitality run through the core of every part of their business.

Sourcing Practices

Onyx take active steps at the producer level to buy and support sustainable coffees. They pay premiums that producers use to build drying beds, to purchase organic fertilizers, among other small initiatives that work towards sustainability.

Their relationship-coffee model reinforces their desire to work regularly with producers that are consistently putting out excellent coffees and also that are actively working towards practices that cultivate long term production on their farms. Coffee production is truly a long game. Sustainable practices on the farm level help make this a reality, both for financial and agricultural stability.

Mission

AN UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO SOURCING AND ROASTING QUALITY COFFEE

Story

Partners Coffee is a small batch coffee roaster founded in Brooklyn, New York. As roasters and baristas with an unwavering commitment to sourcing and roasting quality coffee, they believe that each coffee tells a story, and they seek to share that in every cup.
After nearly a decade in business and years spent forging close relationships with farmers, producers, baristas, roasters, fellow small businesses and customers, Partners Coffee has become synonymous with high quality, accessible specialty coffee.

Sourcing Practices

As sustainable harvesting is necessary for quality and yield, the Partners team actively seeks out producers that meet qualifications such as natural fertilization, maintaining clean, primarily organic farms based on traditional, age-old agricultural techniques, and processing methods including drying and milling practices.
By pledging to purchase non-commodity priced coffee, year after year, Partners has helped build a secure supply while simultaneously allowing their growing partners to invest in their local communities. Partners often work in tandem with their producing partners on community projects that include making improvements to housing, schooling, and other local facilities that
benefit future generations.
Partners endeavors to reuse, repurpose and recycle all collateral material associated with roasting, packaging, and delivering their products, and they avoid one-time-use consumables wherever possible. Their retail coffee bags are part of a zero-waste manufacturing chain; Partners collects used bags at all of their stores, consolidates them, and mails them back to the manufacturer for sterile, easy, low-energy conversion back into material to improve draining for landscape projects or aggregate for concrete precast. The team continues to prioritize sustainability, actively researching and implementing improvements across all facets of the brand.

Why we love PARTNERS

We first heard about Partners from our east coast coffee-loving friends, and were blown away at our first tasting. From their smooth, balanced blends to some of the layered and distinct single-origins, every coffee was a home run. Partners immediately won a place in our heart, not just for their great coffee, but also their focus on building relationships at origin. - Melody
